Okay, I am lazy. I hate to get off the 2520 before and after mowing to raise/lower the ROPS. I fabricated a gas lift assist and wanted to share. The total cost was about $30 in parts not counting scrap metal and 2.5 hours to do the math and fabricating.
I bought a heavy duty gas lift so I would only need one cylinder. Once I have the math done, I fabricated the bracket and spacers. The entire install only required one hole be drilled in the ROPS bracket and not the tube. I used the existing light bolts to install the lower mount.
Now I can lower and lift the ROPS without it trying to rip my shoulder out of place. I can even drop the ROPS and it won't slam down!
