244 clutch problem

hi i just bought a 244 4wd i was driving and when i try to put in gear it would not go till i pushed clutch all the way down which is pto clutch so i figured id put in a new clutch when i removed old one it looked in good shape but it appeared to be installed wrong my question is which way the disc goes in the tractor also grabbed real bad when releasing clutch what would cause this any help would be appreciated

I've attached a picture of the clutch assy. for the 244. Seems most clutches I've installed, the flat side of the disc goes towards the flywheel. And I do believe all that I've installed had "flywheel side" marked/painted on the center hub.
However in this picture, looks like the protruding center hub goes towards the flywheel, unless it is the same way on the other side.

Did you check the pressure plate for broken springs..?? Maybe the PO when installing that clutch forced it together, pulling it back together with bolts, and things not exactly lined up distorted one or the other..?
