First, I thoroughly read the owner's manual, then the FEL manual. It's very clear that the first 5 hrs of operation are critical. The engine is suppose to be run at full rpm (2500+) under a good load. No idling, driving around, etc. So, I just lined up a good work assignment for this saturday. My neighbor is hiring me to break-up, fill, & level an acre of ground. I will begin by using my 5' box blade w/scarifiers. Keeping a steady speed, engaging the ground, should be just the ticket for proper engine break-in and piston ring seating.
In the meantime, I have had several evenings to work on the new machine out in my large heated garage. The wife has about had it with me, complaining I'm always paying attention to the tractor! Oh well, one must have his priorities. (just kidding)
First I inspected the tractor. I topped up the engine oil, coolant, and checked the hydraulic fluid. Greased all 12 loader zerks. Inflated tires to proper levels. Added Stanadyne to diesel fuel tank. With the machine up on jack stands, I removed all 4 wheels and waxed both sides of the wheels, twice. This will allow for easier rinsing after each use, and discourage any water retention on the wheels that might cause rust.
Then I removed the hood, and engine side panels. I waxed and polished them inside and out. Then the entire tractor got waxed, it looks beautiful. Even the loader bucket, arms, and mounts all got the wax treatment. It took several hours. Then I applied armor-all to every rubber seal, tires, seat, etc.
Next, I phoned Markham Welding and ordered a toothbar. For the 48" bucket, I ordered 7 teeth, rather than the standard 5 teeth. Then I went online and ordered several and varied Mahindra filters, and a Service Manual. Then, I contacted a dealer about aquiring an extra set of wheels with Turf Tires mounted on them, and also 3 front suitcase weights to be used when the loader is parked, and I'm mowing with my rear mounted 72" finish mower.
It sure is fun having a brand new Mahindra. I will take a couple photos this weekend and see if I can figure out how to post them. I encourage all of you out there, to keep your tractors clean!
