Snow 2305 with snow blower on gravel?

/ 2305 with snow blower on gravel? #11
I have a 500' gravel driveway and use my 2210 with a 2 stage 47" deere blower and a rear blade. Last year was was the first year and I was anticipating a number of broken shear pins but was pleasantly surprised. Even with the shoes set at 1"±, I would occasionally pick up and throw gravel, but never with any adverse affects other than a racket and missing paint in the chute. The rear blade behind finished off whatever snow was left behind. I'm well satisified with this setup.

Missing paint in the chute? Here's what your chute is going to look like after 10 years. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Based on one year's blowing I should be looking like that in . . oh . . . about 3 yrs. Looks like you have some new asphalt pavement to clear. I doubt I'll ever pave, as in winter, on my steep driveway (10-17%) I appreciate the traction provided by gravel.

phd,

Paved the driveway after about 15 years, and now don't know how we got along before /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif. I have 10,500 sf of driveway, with a stretch of about 200-250' that has up to 15 degrees of slope and another section of about 100' that is as much as 10 degrees. I used to use weights and chains with my 425 (had differential lock), but now just use 4WD on the 2210 and loaded turfs. We had a really snowy winter last year, and I didn't need chains, but that might be different if things ice up. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

mountain_man,

Thanks. I've tried Original Tractor Cab Co. before and not found anything listed for the 4115. However, I haven't called them...maybe it's about time. Not looking forward to another winter of frozen beard /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif.

Thanks,

Tom

I'd love a winter that got cold and stayed cold. But recently the pattern seems to include a lot of freeze/thaw cycles. Not usually enough to thaw the gravel but enough to make the surface potentially tricky when the thermometer plummets. I took no chances and went with studded R4's and now I can aerate my lawn with no new attachments /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
