JEH,

The 53" bucket is sized very nicely for the 2210/2305. For light work it is great (you might be able to make the argument for snow removal the 60 might be a good choice), but when you get into really heavy work /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif the 53" takes all the ballast you can throw at it (i.e. loaded tires, ballast box filled with concrete).

I personally would do the 2210 and save a few dollars and use the money for other attachments. Also the 2210 mower height indicator is in inches and is easier in my opinion ( not that it means a hole lot /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif )to cut your grass at your desired height.

Re: 2305 vs 05\' 2210 used. Help choose one?

360 hrs of loader use is a hard worked tractor in 10 or 11 months. Was it used commercially. This might affect the warranty if it was.

The 2305 is replacing the 2210 so the 2305 may hold it's resale value a little better than the 2210. I don't know if it works like it does in the automotive world when a new body style comes out the last body styles resale will drop 2 - 3 grand in a day at auctions.

Personaly, I would go with the new 2305 and work the dealer over on the price a little more and live with the satisfaction that I knew how the machine was treated from day 1 when I plan to keep something 10+ years.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

The resale value of the 2210 won't be affected by the 2305. There may be a type of purchaser that has to have the latest model, but there will be plenty of others that just want a diesel, 4X4 sub-CUT. If you are concerned about the hours, perhaps you can find out about the history.

Happy New Year!

Re: 2305 vs 05\' 2210 used. Help choose one?

The 360 hours in such a short time would bother me, sounds like the tractor was used commercially. Have a friend in the landscaping business, and you don't know who’s driving what on a particular day and the guys abuse the heck out of the equipment. His employees all have the attitude if it’s not mind so what if I break it. I would pay the $3000 more just to know what I’m getting. Here’s a good story my neighbor bought a brand new 790, owned it for around 15 months put 146 hrs on it. Well he decided to buy a new 4110 and sold the 790. He told me after the guy picked the tractor up that he had never changed the oil. So this poor guy bought this tractor with 142hrs still with factory break in oil in it. So you have to really take a look at what you buy used you never know.

Re: 2305 vs 05\' 2210 used. Help choose one?

Depending upon what you can get for financing, I would probably go with the new one. 300+ hours in 1 year is allot more than one might expect on a tractor of that nature. Don't get me wrong however, as 360 hours on a diesel is nothing. That said, 3k is allot of cabbage for most people AND the 2210 is a magnificent tractor (one of my brothers has one).
Like I said first, financing would play huge factor. I haven't kept up with Deere's "deals' since I am not shopping. Your dealer is the most qulaified person for that task. Have him/her go over them. Usually, used will run you higher %, so some of that 3k will be lost.
Finally, you can buy an extended 2 year warranty for peanuts. I got one on my 4210. Basically, you pay for one year, and Deere throws in another for "free".

Hope this helps. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: 2305 vs 05\' 2210 used. Help choose one?

Thanks gentleman. The 2210 appears to be in super running condition, though I have no doubt it's well "broken" in with the hours on it. Doesn't look it cosmetically but the hour meter says a few more than 0 /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif As far as financing. I will write a check for the 2210 but would take Deere up on their 2 year 0% if I go new. I've just got to decide whether or not the new tractor will hold it's value as well as the 2210 (much of the depreciation already taken) in a few years if I upgrade again, sell or whatever else may come up. Thanks for the great response!!

Re: 2305 vs 05\' 2210 used. Help choose one?

JEH,

If memory serves me correctly, you mentioned the new 2305, loader & deck was around 14.7K?? The dealer is way too high on that price, because you can buy them all day long for 13.7K, so I don't see a $3,000 split between the two machines. I do believe the dealer inflated the number on the new unit to make the used one more appealing to you, because that is his/her money tied up in the machine as opposed to the new one.

As for comparing them, I would take the 2305 in this case even though I'm a two time owner of 2210's. Reason is, 360 hours in this short period is well beyond what a homeowner would put on the machine in the same amount of time. On that note, I would request to see service records or I would do a detailed inspection, specifically the trans filter/oil. If you look at the machine again, see if the fluid (go around to the back and look at the clear glass) is Amber in appearance or red like transmission fluid. These units come from the factory with a very red transmission color fluid, but the replacement is Amber is color. Also, the machine should have been serviced at 50-hours and again at 250-hours for the transmission alone, so there should be no red color in the site glass. Bottom line, I think the dealer either put too much money in the unit (bad trade deal) or there must be more wiggle room.
