John Deere 2305
Hello,

I am looking at a new 2305 with a 200CX loader, 260 backhoe and 54C deck. I know there are some "issues" with the new series. The dealer said they were supposed to be out in June, but maybe not until fall. Not completely sure of the issues, but a customer of mine is a R&D guy at Deere and I believe the problem is with some components/suppliers or something like that, I may be wrong.

Anyway, I sure like the new features, tilt wheel folding ROPS etc. I'm sure I could have the ROPS modified and a hinge added. My real question is about pricing on the 2305 if I should decide to got that route. My local dealer quoted me $14,500 for the 2305, 54C and loader and another $4850 for the backhoe. I don't recall retail on the 2305 and can't price them online any longer. How does that price sound?

I probably don't need anything that big, I have a 1.5 acre lot with some woods, 3/4 acre of grass, hills etc. I have many landscaping and general maintenance projects. After getting quotes on some of the work, I decided it may be better to buy something and do it myself. The developer of my sub-division has a larger Deere, don't recall the model but he let me use it last fall and it was a tremendous help moving stone, dirt etc. I used it for a couple of weeks, to rent equipment on a regular basis would add up quickly. I could still borrow his, but with the size, it tears the yard up pretty good and there are areas I can't get into easily.

I currently have an old '94 Cub Cadet, 2000 series rider now and it needs to go! So at very least I need a mower. Was going to get the X748, but it's more with the loader and I also really want the backhoe for some excavating. I'm not getting any younger and my back doesn't hold up well doing manual work. If I'm going for a loader, the 200CX is a better option as opposed to the 45 loader (I think) that fits the X748. I know the X748 would be a better mower choice, but if I'm dropping that kind of cash, I might as well get something that can take more attachments. I want to get the 0% financing so can't really wait for the new models to be released.

I am also looking at the red and orange but I'm in Deere country, just a few miles from Moline Illinois. Everyone in my area has a Deere. I think the Deere is what I want although I want to test drive all. Since I can't build a shed on my property (one of the few covenants) I need to be able to store the implements where ever I can and the green will be more discrete. Anyway sorry to ramble, just curious on the price to start and any other advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hink, We have two 2305s, a 2005 with 612hrs and the 2010 with 100hrs. We have 62 inch decks which i recommend. We also have the FEL on mine. With the acres that you have you will love this tractor. However, if you are looking at Deere, the incentives that the 2520 have right now are super. We are picking up a 2520 today, and the main reason it has twice the hydro flow. With you wanting the BH, that might be something to concider? JD has 2.94% for 72 months, which might make your payments a little more bearable? I was going to trade in my 2305, but find that it one of the toughest little tractors i have ever seen..... the wieght to hp is best in the class. you cant go wrong with the 2305:D.

Thanks for the reply. The 2520 would be too big for my purposes. When I looked at the 2305 I was trying to decide how to sell this to the wife. It's a long process, but I know she wouldn't go for anything larger. I am also limited on storage space and need the smallest possible to navigate yard when mowing. I am going to sit down and make a list of uses for the 2305 and the cost savings as opposed to hiring work done or renting equipment. I need a solid case for the wife! I live in a residential area and even the 2305 will look ridiculous. I couldn't justify it before, but we bought the lot next door which doubles our land. Planning to dig a little drainage stream as the drainage is poor and a lot of standing water. It will be tricky as the ground is very soft, but I figure I can get some 3/4 plywood and make a "road" for the tractor while I dig, another reason to have something smaller and lighter. Do you remember what you paid for your 2305 last year? If I can't wait for the new model, I would like to get a good deal on the 2305. I was looking at their 0%/48 mo. financing. Thanks again!

the price your getting is pretty good.... dont remember exact price from last year. the 2305 is a great tractor, especially in the woods. dont forget the ballast box. im getting pallet forks from chris at artillion this next week. i cant tell you how much you will enjoy the 2305. and cant tell me how many good nieghbors you will find when they see you have a FEL. if you live in the snowbelt you will really love the fact that you can move show in the winter to places that are out of the way!!! my close nieghbors really like us!!:thumbsup:haha nancy runs the FEL all the time and is pretty good at it.

I won't forget the ballast box! When I borrowed a much larger Deere last year for loader work, it had no ballast and was very unstable. Had to carefully back down a hill to move dirt. I am hoping to get something thrown in for free, maybe a ballast box or utility trailer? I market and sell RVs so I know what a pain that is when buyers want freebees. Our margins are so tight, our price is what it is with no extras. Hopefully with the new models coming, they will work with me. One thing I really want is pallet forks. They are great for moving landscaping stone and such. About what do the forks cost? The snow... thats another selling point for the wife! We had a terrible winter, 17" of snow at once with 3-6' drifts. My driveway is only about 80' x 24' but a loader would move the snow. I remember a neighbor coming home in the middle of the storm and getting stuck at the end of their driveway. They spent a very long time digging with shovels, I'm sure I would have been very popular if I had the loader then! That makes me think... that neighbor is a plastic surgeon, maybe I could trade some work, loader work for wife work? She has wanted some cosmetic work done for awhile. Now, I don't think she needs it BUT my case for the 2305 is looking better! Hey honey, if I get a big tractor, we can get you a smaller butt! Think that will work? Maybe I need to refine that strategy some.
Thanks!

moving snow is hugh.... especially around the mailbox. the postal guy will leave us a nasty note if he cant get to our mailbox. being a good nieghbor is something that i try to be, and there are a few nieghbors that feel the same way and favors are always returned, when you least expect it:D. look on chris's website. Artillian Pallet Forks for John Deere Tractor Loaders, he has a different setups you can get. im doing the 4F and i ordered the forks from the link on his page. total around $725ish? not really the cost, but the weight of the setup. chris has it down under half the JD setup. with our little tractors every pound is important. As far as the wife, mine is 36 and still fits in her 8th grade jeans so...... id becareful what id tell her on your part.:D:D:Dhehe
