I have ordered to optional independent hydrallic lift for my 2305. Has anyone had to experience to install this option themselve. Just preparing myself for the install.

Just curious. Why would you want to install the independent lift option? Maybe it would be useful if you don't have any other use for the hydraulic outlets. Just asking...

so i dont have to take the mower deck off when I use the grader box.

But you don't need indy lift to keep the deck up! Look at the mowing height dial and you'll see a section that has a lock pictured on it. Raise the deck and then turn the dial to the lock position - your deck will no longer lower when you lower the 3ph.

To release it for mowing, simply raise the 3ph and turn the dial to whatever height you want to cut at. Significantly cheaper and far less work to install...

Ron is right about the lock position and if you want to keep the mower on while you grade, that will certainly work. However, since the mower is so easy to remove and reinstall and getting it completely out of harm's way while working ground will remove the possibility of damage to it, I would suggest going that route rather than incurring additional expense and trouble of installing the independent lift kit.

I'm in the process of deciding on options to include on a 2305. I'd initially thought that it would be good to order the independent lift, but now you have me thinking. The case where it appears useful is when there's an implement on the 3PH (like a rake or carry-all for chainsaw, tools, etc). In this case, won't the rear implement be going down when the mower is lowered? If it goes down too much, then won't the implement be making ground contact when you don't want it to? If someone has some first-hand experience with how this scenario would work with only the mechanical lift, I'd appreciate hearing about it.

Perhaps the other good question to ask - has anyone found an application where the MMM independent lift came in very handy? Thank you!

Yes the mmm would be lowered. You can hold it up from what I have been told by the deck gauge, or take it off completely when using the 3ph. I just got my 2305 2 weeks ago and love it, but I should have order the IHL for it as I am now having to add it. I basically use it for mowing so when I mow my quick hitch drags the ground. I would get the option if I was you.

True dat - when the mmm is lowered for cutting, the 3ph will drop down also. I don't have a quick hitch so it doesn't bother me. I also remove any 3ph implements (and the FEL) before cutting so I have the smallest (and lightest) machine possible to cut with.

But if the quick hitch drags, yeah, I'd think about the independent lift... But you chain it up behind you to keep it from dragging. Might look a little redneck-ish, but it would be cheaper than IHL!

So it seems that with the mechanical lift, if you want to use an implement on the 3PH and the mower is installed, the mower can be locked up out of the way. But if you want to use the mower with an implement (or even iMatch) on the 3PH, then the implement lowers and can drag when you lower the mower... that is unless you creatively 'chain it up' per VABlue's suggestion.

Since I can definitely see cases that I'll be out mowing trails with something hanging off the 3PH, I think I'll leave the independent lift on the order. Seems easiest (and cheapest) to have it installed from the start.

Thanks for the clarifications!
