I have a little over 200 hours on the machine. I am a little frustrated. The problem is that this rear end was, unfortunately, rebuilt b/c the PTO got destroyed while brush mowing (cost around 4k). Thankfully it was repaired and completely covered under warrenty. Based on the scope and maganitude of the work that was involved in putting this entire rear end together, I was a little concerned, and now, oil is slowly leaking from the housing shown in the pic, which would be an incredible amount of time and labor to repair.

My dealer has been good to me, the last thing I want to do is attack him about this. Obviously, there may have been not enough gasket sealant added to this part of the casing prior to assembly. I tightned all of the bolts - but it still leaks.

I am hoping I can work something out w/ him. I do not have the money to spend for repair, which I think would be quite a bit. It just really bugs me that at 200 hours, it leaks.

Yeah, that stinks and hopefully the dealer can help you out. It's situations like this where dealerships really have an opportunity to do right by the customer and potentially create customers for life if they seize the opportunity. Let us know how you make out. I have a 2305 also and would be curious what they say.

Hey, where east of Albany are you? I grew up in Latham (little north of Albany).

Good Luck!

johnny,

The first thing is to determine where it is leaking from. If it is the top link plate, you may have an entirely different problem easily rectified by resealing the plate with RTF and making sure the height adjustment is correct. :)

My dealer said there is not much they can do, other than work out a deal on a trade. I was thinking of upgrading to a 2320.

However, I am little annoyed. They rebuilt this, now it is leaking. They should be resposible. Also, he mentioned that he would need to fix it prior to selling, which he seemed not thrilled about. Lastly, he said he would get right back to me w/ some figures (which he is very good about) and it has been a week and has not gotton back to me, nor has he responded to my e-mail messages.

What I am thinking is he wants nothing to do w/ this machine. He also, made comment saying I "worked the machine too hard." Which really annoyed me, since when it was sold to me, this was the "perfect machine" for the jobs I had in mind. Which includes mowing, moving dirt and landscaping using a rake.

So now I have a 2305 with a rebuilt rear w/ a slight leak. I am thining of not really worrying about the leak, since it is so slight, keep using the machine and go ahead and trade, working w/ a different dealer.

Johnny, what were the circumstances that lead to the broken PTO? Was it a case of you messing up but the dealer hooked you up and covered it under warranty, or was it a set up issue or a defect issue? If the dealer did you a huge favor by fixing it, and doesn't want to eat the repairs again, then maybe go to another dealer and claim that the previous warranty work failed and get it fixed there. If it was a true warranty claim (defect or set up issue) then I'd demand that your current dealer fix it right, period.
