My wife went by the dealership a few days ago and wrote down "5210 w/ bucket 20,000 to 23,000". She knows nothing about tractors and just wrote down what she was told. She wrote "5210" down by copying the model number off of the tractor. Before the guy gave her a price she mentioned that she had been looking at Fords earlier.

I called over there thinking that if I could get a new 5210 with a bucket for 20,000 that I wanted to seal the deal.

The guy told me that he never said that. He says he had no 5210. He says he showed my wife a 5105. His price with bucket, joystick and calcium in the tires would be 23,770.

Sounds like full retail to me.

Can anybody help shed some light on this for me? I can't find find 5210 on the john deere site - does such a thing even exist?

The dealership has a deal about a two year warranty where they deliver and pickup at your farm at no charge. While repairing your tractor, they leave an equivalent tractor for you to use - all "free" for two years.

The warranty-ish stuff sounds good, but .... am I being paranoid?

Paul =, that sounds high even for a 4x4 tractor, but you need a little more infomation to get a good answer. Like what area your in etc.? Sounds funny that this guy says your wife cant read or write though. He probally was just shooting off some number to her cause she was a woman, then you called and he had to crawfish..Just my guess. Iam looking at the same tractor, so I for one would be interesterd how it all works at for you..

I called the dealership and got some more info. Apparently this price includes 4WD. He says he didn't mention it because this dealer refuses to get in any 2WD tractors. He went on to say that 2WD and buckets don't mix because with 2WD you can't fill the bucket.

Is 4WD really that essential?

Oh yeah.... this tractor also has "calcium in the tires" and "telescoping draft links".

On really BIG tractors, no. However, for me personally, I wouldn't even consider a tractor without 4WD.

It's good to know that my wife isn't nuts.

I guess if you don't get the quote in writing, it's worthless.

I am pretty sure the 5210 is now called the 5220 on the website. all of the "ten" series I beleive are now "twenty" series (i.e. 5210, 5310, 5410, 5510 became 5220, 5320, 5420, 5520).

There are probably plenty of ten series still around on the dealers lots..

To answer your question: I'm in eastern Washington state. About a half hour north of Spokane.
