I'm replacing the old 2 handle loader valve with a closed center joystick. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what fittings I need to order to get from the SAE #8 ports on the new joystick to the JIC(Ithink) on the original hoses of the loader. I'm not very good at just looking at fittings and telling what size they are. Correct me if I'm wrong but, isn't SAE the o-ring style fitting with the nut?

Correct fittings wll be determined by where hoses are attached to tractor hyd's. o-ring style with the nut are called ORB(o-ring boss). SAE is the abbreviation for Society of Automotive Engineers Here's the specs. . JIC fittings, defined by the SAE J514 and MIL-F-18866 standards, are a type of flare fitting machined with a 37-degree flare seating surface. Here's the spec's for JD's factory installed fitting(parts key #16) for a 145 loader

You can measure the threads of a male fitting that your hoses connect to. Most 3/8 hoses with JIC fittings will use either #6 - (3/8") or #8 - (1/2") fittings.
#6 thread od is 9/16"
#8 thread od is 3/4"
