2210 vs X595

Have been looking for a tractor. Thought I was down to the 2210 or Bx2200. Then saw the X595. I have three acres of flat ground. I do have quite a lot of stone drive way, some landscaping projects and a good sized garden (20' x 30'). Primary use will be mowing.

Both are made by Yanmar. The X model is available and there seem to be few to find 2210's. There actually not much price difference.

I have a 335 with 48"c now with 230 hours and really like it, except I didn't buy big enough. I am spending too much time mowing the grass.

Hi hambone -
I was in a similar situation about a month ago. Decided to trade in my trusty old 332 for something bigger. Had to have another diesel of course.
When I first walked in the showroom, the X595 stuck right out. Sweet looking machine!. Now I've know my dealer for 10 years or so, and he pretty much knows what I need (did I say need - how about want?). Anyway, within the first couple sentences of our conversation, he steered me right over to a 2210. Look at what you're getting with the 2210 - 3 point hitch, rear PTO, etc for the same price as the X. Those options on the X would bring the price way over the 2210. I thought the 2210 was a little overkill for me.
Anyway, trying to shorten my story, I ended up with the 2210, and man am I glad I did. Just picked up some brush hog work so I was able to hook right up and go.
Looking at what you say you will be using the tractor for, I would recommend the 2210. It has a great loader you can put on it, plus any CAT1 implements.
And, let me say a little about mowing with the 2210 with the 62C deck. The mowing job it will do will rival any commercial mower. I do some contract mowing on the side, and just did 2 baseball fields with it last week. When I was done, it was absolutely gorgeous - like a carpet. I was also impressed with the tight turning radius coupled with the 62C deck size.

For the $$, the the 2210 is the better deal by far.

The X-series are nice, but really over-priced when you put them up against a sub-compact tractor. We (where I work) make a hydraulic valve for the X-series (I'm an Manufacturing Engineer). Even though I'd love to see the X-series sell, they are basically a luxury SUV when what you really need is a truck (CUT tractor). You could use the SUV, but the truck is the better choice for work. If that makes any sense...

Hey Prosperity -

I am needing to replace my newly restored JD318 - which I really like, but it is too small for my property, and I definitely need the 4wd for the hilly parts of the property. How does the 2210 compare to the 332? I am quite concerned about the size, as Deere's website shows a turning radius of 7.5 ft (compared to around 26 inches for 332/318). The pics on the Deere site seem to imply to me that the tractor is quite large. What's your take? How would you compare the two? Also, has anyone actually done a side-by-side comparison with the X595? What would you guys say are the main differences?

Finally, anyone care to weigh in on comparing the Kubota BX2200 to the JD2210? How do the two compare in size, maneuverability, useability?

I did not like the way the BX models sat, I mean the way everything is arrainged. The steering wheel seemed too far away and the loader controls up by the steering wheel instead of beside you.
I should recieve my 2210 today or tomorrow /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif and will be able to elaborate further then!

Sorry it took a while to get back. I saw your post this morning before work but didn't have time to respond.

Anyway - I too was concerned with the size. Well let me tell you, there is a difference in size, but the 2210 is much more maneuverable than the 332. I have the 62" deck on the 2210, and it trims closer than my 332. I was astounded by the turning radius of the larger machine. It will turn sharper than the 332. And with the added width of the 62" deck, your mowing turning radius is reduced even more. If it weren't raining out right now I measure it for you. Don't let the figure if 7.5' bother you. It can't be right or not comparing the same thing. Trust me, the 2210 turns sharper than the 332. When I first test drove the 2210, I just couldn't believe how tight it turns. As far as size, it is a little bigger, but not too big at all. The only thing that took a little getting used to is the ROPS. First time mowing with it I really took my time under trees etc. Then with a little trim job, get it to where I have no problem.
Best thing you can do is try one. If your dealer doesn't have one in stock, then its kind of hard.
My honest opinion - I just loved my 332, and had a very hard time thinking about parting with it. At first when I saw the 2210, I thought it was overkill for me. Thought about it for a week or so (sleepless nights!), and finally went for it. I've had it for over a month now, and have about 25 hours on it using it for mowing. I'm so glad I got it now. Also, I thought I'd never use the 3-point hitch and rear PTO, but got a brush hog for it last week to do some jobs.
All in all the 2210 is a fantastic machine, and is just like a "step up" from my 332.
Here's a photo of the 2210 and 332 side by side. Maybe it will give you a feel for the size difference. If I can answer any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I looked seriously at the 2210 and chose the 'bota BX22 in the end. The loader controls detach with the loader, which seemed simpler than the JD configuration. The way the hydraulic lines connected made huge sense to me. And the seat on the 'bota is adjustable so that short fellows (like yours truly) aren't reaching a long way forward for the wheel, but much bigger guys have sufficient leg room. I wanted the backhoe, which JD doesn't recommend for the 2210. The 'bota frame was beefed up for it. The backhoe detaches in about 3 minutes too. The package for the price is what moved me to Orange. Hope the feedback on the 'bota is helpful.

FYI...the X series are made in a JD factory in Horicon, WI; not by Yanmar like the 2210.

The BX series were not at all what I needed. It is smaller, lighter and that is not what you want if you are going to do any digging.
The Kubota has the controls for the loader, on the loader, and if you want to add a plow you have to spend more money for the controls. The foot pedals are not as comfortable. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif The 2210 does have an adjustable seat for people of all heights. My wife and I are always moving it back and forth.

The X595 sure looks like a race car compared to the 2210 but if you get the 2210 you will be very HAPPY! The 595 only has a single speed transmission and that can't be good. I find the Hi and Low very useful on the 2210 and can not imagine being stuck in only one gear (I have many hills).
The turning radius (not sure of the number off the top of my head but I have no problem going completely around very small bushes.
In 2 wheel drive, it is unbelievable how tight it turns!
The only options the X595 has that the 2210 does not are Cruse Control, Tilt wheel, 6-way seat, 12 volt outlet and Reverse lights. If Cruse Control is important, then this is a major decision but the 2210 has so many more possibilities without spending more money on the add-on cat 1 3 point. I find the stick on the 2210 better because it is right next to you. The X595 has two up on the dash to run the loader. The ROPS is standard on the 2210 and I am glad to have it (on the news just this morning, a man was killed when his riding mower rolled on him). I purchased my 2210 in May and could not live without it. Yesterday when I was at the dealer I picked up a book on the X595 because I was having issues myself (the X595 just looks so much faster and well,... cooler! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif) So I just wanted to remind myself why I need the 2210 more. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The 2210 hands down. You may think it is a little overkill. But once you get it, then you will definitely figure out what else you can use it for. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
