I think the engine in the 2210 is probably the one in the 4210 and probably what's in the X595. It's a huge amount of hp in such a small machine. Lots of people want hp. It sells. Doubt very few of them actually use it. Think you'd have to run a 6' bush hog in high grass to use it. A 6' bush hog is too heavy for its 1400 # weight.
I looked at both the 2210 and 4010 as well as a BX 1830 and
B7510. Bought the 4010 with 410 loader and LX4 cutter. I've now a soil ripper that originally was used on an 18 (wheel) hp JD M.
Don't think I'll ever be lacking for hp. I've had a 12 hp Gravely for 3 years. It never runs short of power to drive its 30" bush hog/mulching mower deck. It'll also pull a cart with up to 1,000 pounds in it up a slight grade, not hp-limited: limited by grip with quad wheels. Some Gravely owners run them with 50" mowing decks, which they were offered with.
The basic differences between the 2210 and 4010 are the following:
o About 4 to 5" more ground clearance on the 4010. This will probably translate into this much more lift height on the 3 pt. I'm trying to get figures on this. Don't think the soil ripper would work on the 2210 because of reduced lift height.
o Cruise control on the 4010 vs. a drink holder on the 2210.
o The 2210 has a positioner for a MMM. The 4010 doesn't.
o Dual brakes on the 4010. These are desirable when pushing snow with the FEL, as well as turning more sharply at the end of garden rows.
o The 4010 top-of-ROPS is 1" SHORTER than the 2210 with turf tires on both.
o The turf tires on the 4010 are (speced) 1/2" wider. They look even wider. Tried out both the 2210 and 4010 stopping and restarting (backing up) on a steep hill. The 4010 did it no problem. The 2210 wouldn't move. Tried 3 times to make sure I had it in 4wd. Still not sure I ever got it in.
I'm glad that I got the 4010. It was the smallest CUT that advertised full Cat. 1 capability. It seems pretty strong in both the 3ph and FEL hydraulics.
