"its a magazine no matter where you live............... "

Yes you are correct it is a magazine, my reply was meant to be tongue in cheek but evidently I failed. It is still called a clip in my area even tho it is not politically correct.

Unless it is for a M1 Garand, then it is indeed a Clip...

Yeah, but those clips hold the rounds which than get pushed (as a unit) into the fixed magazine.
SKS rifles, Broom Handle Mausers and others use a stripper clip to hold the rounds, which then get "slid" into the firearm's magazine. However, the stripper clip doesn't get inserted as they do with M1's.

like he said the magazine is permanently attached to the rifle. a clip is loaded into the mag well. so the clip is not the mag. but no matter really. when someone calls a mag a clip most people know what he is trying to say.

where i live a lot of people call a soft drink a coke. even if it is a pepsi or dr pepper, people just say "get me a coke" and then the other guy says "what kind" :)

Around here, if it holds bullets and you shove it into a gun, its a clip. Call it a magazine and you'd get the same funny looks you get if you called a pig a 'sus scrofa domestica'.

But, for those of you so rigidly and analy technical, my Ruger Mark II owner's manual referes to the 'clip' only as a magazine. The word clip is never mentioned.

Still, anyone who comes down here telling people it isn't a clip, better get ready to squeal like a sus scrofa domestica....just ask Ned Beatty.

And yes, when I was growing up, all soft drinks were called coke.

Ha!
I've got stripper clips to fill my removable magazines for my M1 Carbine.
