.22 LR Ammunition - any updates on availability?

Lots of choices... just have to go through the ordering motions to understand total cost, once shipping and tax (if applicable) is calculated.

It's been forever since I've looked at this, but I was wandering through the local Wal-Mart yesterday and they had a large selection of .22 ammo, from 50 round boxes to 500 round bulk packs. That's the first I've noticed in quite some time at Wal-Mart. I've seen it in stock basically everywhere else, although I've ended up getting most of mine online for the past couple of years.

The 500 round (or maybe it was 525, one or the other) was the Remington Thunderbolts, and they were in the $25-$26 range. It was something weird, like $25.76 - they seem to do that on their ammo here. The other bulk packs were the Federal boxes of 325 for about $18. I think that would put the Thunderbolts about 5 to 5.5 cents per round and the Federals about the same.

Thanks. Last brick of 500 I bought about 3-4 years ago was $29, so that's not too bad in my book.

Bass pro shop at myrtle beach has all the .22's you want but they're all priced at $8.29 and north for a box of 100. No thanks!

In this day and age, just about any 22LR round under 10 cents a round is a decent buy, especially if it's one of the better brands, I don't include Remington Thunderbolts in the good class

Sounds like some of you guys should be reloading yourself. I was going to bring up ammoseek but looks like someone else already did. I buy my 223s from BangItAmmo.com Brass cases only. Never steel. I've bought a few thousand rounds from them. 223, 12g and 40s. Good people. Like them a lot.

I've a real hard time sourcing .22LR primers. Seems like they are just not available. The ones I do see are all dented.

This IS a .22 LR thread ...right?
