We happened to be near a Dicks Sporting Goods and Gander Mountain last night, so I stopped by each. There was nothing at Dicks, but when we went to Gander Mountain, they had the following:

100 round Winchester - $8
100 round Remington - $8
50 round CCI - $5
50 round Federal - $5
50 round Eley - $10
800 round Winchester - $60
50 round CCI 22 magnum - on sale for $10 (regular price was $13)

The 100 round and 800 round packs were limit of 1, everything else was limit of 2. They had plenty of all of the ammunition, except maybe the bulk packs of which there was only 5 or 6 packs.

I did pick up another 100 round Remington and bought 2 of the .22 magnums - if i recall correctly $10/50 .22 magnums isn't too far from the "old" price. I think I usually paid at least $8/50.

The only thing that they didn't have, but had a sticker on the shelf for (making me think it had recently been in stock) was for Remington Thunderbolts. The tag was for $2.49. I'm assuming this was for a 50 round box, but I don't know that for sure.

Good luck and take care.

I wouldn't say I'm a hoarder ... I shoot my ruger 10/22 a lot.. When I find it at a descent price I buy.. I don't buy to resale or just to have around..

With a 22, you can shoot through several hunderd rounds B-4 you know it

I think that .22 caliber shells are extinct, at least in my area. I have been trying to buy some at Wally World, Gander Mountain and the local gun shops for over two (2) years. They only laugh and look at me like I am crazy when I ask.

Local shop had "Bucket-o-bullets" 1400 count Rem. for $120

I don't like the cheap Rem ammo, so I passed. If it were CCI 40 grain, I would have bought a bucket.

Go online. 22 is readily available these days, just not at old-time prices. You can generally expect to pay at least 8 cents per round - typically 10 cents. The only downside to online buying is the shipping, and those costs vary widely - so shop around a bit.

I paid $110.00 out the door the other day for these... They shoot very well.. I have had 0 problems with them in my 10/22

Perhaps I'm a bit harsh. Isn't it something when a 1/2 inch at 50 yards determines likes and dislikes?
Perhaps it was just the 36 grain bullit that I don't like. ;-)

The bucket of bullets is among the worst ammo I have ever seen. The Winchester crap is even worse. The Remington thunder bolts shoot good with only a couple jams per brick.

You would never fit in with the bulls eye shooting crowd. They spent thousands of dollars trying to get a group that is a few hundreds of an inch better.

I'm by no means a bulls eye shooter. I doubt I could hit the center of the bullseye unless I taped the target to the muzzle.

As long as the ammunition cycles reliable, I really don't complain. I know some of the ammo that I had gotten - both long ago and since the panic - would not cycle an auto like a P-22, and I've had some that was hard to eject from a cheap, single action revolver - I think the case swelled (maybe). Other than that, it's usually just varying degrees of dirty.

I was putting away some of the ammo I picked up the other day and looked at on of the old boxes of .22 magnum. It must be one that I inherited from Uncle, who live around Nashville, because it had the Tennessee tax stamp on it and the price tag was from a Goodletsville sporting goods store. This would indicate that it was well before the great panic - price tag was $14 for a 50 round box of CCI.

Good luck and take care.
