if starter is cranking engine when you try to fire her up, put a cuppla shots of rattlecan carb cleaner directly down carb throat (remove air cleaner). Have all normal elect connections connected. Sit on seat, pto off, brake pedal fully depressed, crank engine.

If engine pops or tries to start, you have a fuel delivery probl. if nothing from cranked engine, ignition probl.
Do above, post back with results if further help needed.

i definatly have ignition prob! i tried everything with switches i had a problom with the brake switch last month i could not crank it so i bypassed and fixed the prob. But i am going to mess with the switch today.

yer nickel. But, some switches have internal devices _just_ to prevent such disconnects/bypassing from being successful (legal/safety concerns). Dunno how yer machine is equipped.

The brake switch has two sets of contacts, the set the orange wire hooks to is normally open and has to be closed(brake engaged) to complete the cranking circuit. The set the yellow wire hooks to is normally closed and has to open(brake engaged) if you get out of the seat or it grounds out the magneto. The ignition switch also grounds out the yellow magneto wire when you turn key switch off. I would first check if the yellow wire is grounded with a test light or voltmeter.

Okay still have not fixed the problem I am steering toward the stator is there anyway I can test the stator because this mower I will have to unbolt motor to get flywheel off.

Okay I am determand to get this mower running I checked the ground with a multi meter that goes to the coil key is of yes it is grounding out when key is off and is not when key is on still no spark. The ? I have is does the stator have any thing to do with the spark or does it just act as an alternator?

The alternator wiring is totally separate from the magneto(ignition module). As you can see on the wiring diagram below the yellow wire from the magneto can be grounded by several switches. If it's grounded there will be no spark.

The following test should be done with the spark plug/plugs removed and the threaded area grounded to the engine to look for a visible spark. If the spark plug/plugs are in the engine and the engine starts while the yellow wire is disconnected during the test the only way to stop the engine will be to ground or reconnect the yellow wire.

To test if one of the switches or the wiring harness is grounded disconnect the yellow wire at the engine and attemp to start the engine. If you now have spark then somewhere on the yellow wire's path its grounded. To determine which switch it is reconnect the yellow wire and remove the ground wire at each switch one at a time until you have spark when cranking.

Okay Old machinist checked all switches they where fine I took the wire off the ignition module / coil put the test lite on it key off lite on grounding to shut off key on lite goes out! Is it possible that the magneto is grounding out or bad it it magnetic ?

I don't think what you did is telling you much. The wire from the magneto is just for grounding it out to stop the engine. When its not connected to anything, crank the engine and if the magneto is good then you should have spark at the spark plug. If you have no spark then the magneto is bad or the gap between it and the flywheel is wrong.

K no spark I gaped it with a business card but will go do it again. Also I hooked the test lite to the positive and touched magneto also the ignition module and the test lite lit up like something is grounding out the magneto maybe I am wrong I am just trying different thing but no spark with the wire unhooked though thank for giving me advise this thing is driving me crazy lol!

Well I thought about it and the magneto is part of the motor so I was wrong I think since the motor is grounded.

The gap between the magneto/ignition module and the flywheel should be .008-.012" which about the thickness of three sheets of paper.

When I say the wire grounds out the magneto I mean it grounds the internal coils that generate the spark.
