I guess I took out the clutch on my NH 2120. I went to shift into 4wd and something came loose, when I let the pedal out all I get is a rubbing noise. Dealer will be picking it up the first of the week, unless I figure out a way to get it on my trailer. It's just under 1400 hours, and the last 800 since I bought it have been heavy duty. Any guess's how much I may be looking at?

Thanks for the reply. That's what I figured. I just hope the clutch is all it is. I've read about some expensive transmission repairs.

That doesn't sound like a clutch to me, but I could be wrong. Could be a linkage problem.

Total ignorance here on the guts of a tractor. When you say linkage, you're still talking about something that requires splitting the tractor? My dealer explained what he thought is was, pins or rivets that holds the clutch on the shaft maybe. Doesn't really matter, if it needs splitting, that's beyond my current level of technology, so to the dealer it goes. I"m just trying to do a little research ahead of time. Thanks for the reply.

Yep, clutch, took out the splines on it. New clutch and a g-note and I'll be back in business.

On our 2120 12X12 with a shuttle shift, the forward and reverse shifting cones as they told us at the dealer needed replacing. Total cost was $5000, parts and labor. After they opened it up, just the forward were shot. Cost revised to $3800. It has been an exceptionaly expensive tractor for us with just over 600 hours. It no longer resides in our arsenal. I know a bunch of guys here who just love the NH 2120. I'm not in that group.

When the clutch went, the first thing I thought of was your repair bill. Hopefully this will be the end of my major bills for a while. More than half the cost is labor for splitting the tractor. I went to the dealers and saw how much dssasembly was required. Seems like they could have made it a lttle easier to get at.

I would have suspected most of the cost would have been labor as well but the fellow said the forward and the reverse shifiting cones are about $800 to $1000 each.
