2040S pros and cons ?

Looking at a 2040S. Looks to be in great shape.. any pros and cons on this model?

I am not familiar with this model. It was made in Germany, so not much info. It should have closed center hydraulics, which are good. It is heavy which is usually good, depends on your uses. I suspect it will have a syncronized transmission, but not sure.

Thanks. I can find almost zero info on these anywhere. I called 5 large Deere dealers and they were all like " a what model?" 1 told me i was wrong and it was just a 2040 and no S. 1 said they mighta worked on one a long time ago and the other 3 flat out said never seen one.

I doubt most dealers are up on the tractors that are not commonly imported. I wonder what the story is on this one. They are also 75HP 4cyl, not the 45HP 3cyl of the 2040. Probably comparable to the 2550 or 2555

I once saw a JD 2030 with a cab and MFWD, it also had the nose/hood of a the next series newer (40 series), not the 10, 20, or 30 series hood.

Im not sure. I saw this tractor in person about a yr ago and it was in great condition. Id really like to get it and sell my massey 265 but im hesitant to pull the trigger on it.

All the dealers knew of 2040. The S threw em all a curve. One asked what it was and i told him. He said nope thats wrong, its only a 45 hp tractor the guy selling it was wrong.
