2025 gardens

Been a good year in the garden! Got behind and things got backed up so I pickled. 3 qts cucumber pickles (2 chips, 1 spear) 1 qt carrots and jalapeños, 2 qts zucchini and squash and 1 qt green beans. Used a prepackaged mix from the store. Hate when fresh stuff from the garden goes bad and I love pickles so this is a win win!

Did my first foliar feeding of the pumpkins this morning. Sure makes it easier to hit 260(ish) vines. Took about 2 gallons in all. They recommend a once per week feeding.

I've never seen Tomato Booster. Do plants show a noticable improvement?

Does anyone know about adding epsom salts to tomato plants?

Have harvested 37 ounces of green beans this week. Every two days we go pick about 19 ounces, at this point

I used to put a tsp. in the hole when I set transplants, but now foliar feed plants when they start forming tomatoes. Seems to curb blossom end rot a good bit. I've had little or no BER since I started using it either way, but foliar feeding is the easiest. I use 1 TBS. per gallon of water and hit it 2-3 times through the season.

Do you think I could just sprinkle some on the ground just prior to a rain and lightly cultivate in?

I don't know that the uptake would be as significant as the foliar feeding. Anymore I put a couple TBS. in a small glass jar along with a bit of water so it can dissolve ahead of time, then pour it in my 2 gallon sprayer and fill with water.

I also do the same with aspirin water to help with blight. 1 325 mg. tablet per gallon of water. The hard part anymore is finding uncoated aspirin. Actually, found it at Dollar General. It has gone up considerably since I bought a bottle of 100 several years ago for 99 cents, and is up to $3.25 for 150, but last a very long time.

Aspirin water helps build tomato plants tolerance to blight. it has extended my growing season by several weeks. The sooner you start the better off you are. You can do a Google search to find info about it, and maybe even some YouTube videos on it.
