My next (used) truck will be a gas job unless I find a unicorn 2017/2018 G56 Cummins.

Waiting to see if Ecoboost ever gets in the HD line.

My 3.5 turns same RPM pulling that my 7.3 Powerstroke did and gets similar mileage. The 7.3 was to the floor anytime I dropped to 5th for a hill, hardly touch the pedal on the 3.5 and go up hill with power to spare. Granted a 7.3 is no 6.7 Powerstroke either.

OP needs 2500 HD for sure with snowplowing and 15K towing, otherwise 1/2 ton would work.

How many miles will you drive and how much weight will you tow and better question, how many miles will you tow heavy? I also derive pleasure out of driving an engine with greater torque than the gas counterpart.
The 6.6L Duramax is going to have almost DOUBLE the torque of the 6L, so the power difference is almost 100% more torque!

Now I hear the 2L ecoboost gas engine from Ford is a Cummins, Duramax and Powerstroke killer. Has a bigger bottom end

You should correct your post to be factual.

It's the 3.5 ecoboost, not the 2.0 or 2.7 ecoboost. The 3.5 has more bearing surface, 6 bolt mains, CGI block, and piston squirters...which is mo betta than the cummins.

A good buddy of mine just bought a 2020 F150 2.7 for his wife. He said that thing rips even after testing a 5.0. He runs a F350 dually diesel for himself.

I thought it was only the 2.7l EB that had the CGI Block? oh well, left out of the loop again
2017+ has the CGI block with the port and direct injection.

Some dudes aren't concerned with factual... the 3.5 EB with the 10 speed tranny is known and proven to out perform the competitors; just as the 6.7 diesel PowerBoost with the 10 speed tranny. Facts are facts... Like them or not.

He casually made a factual statement about performance but attributed it to the wrong motor. Now I know this because I was the one telling him about it. I think the correct information should be disseminated otherwise, it's just more fake news to make a point. Which it was and clearly intended that way.

The "B" series cummins was designed in the 80's. Revisions have been made to accommodate common rail fuel injection and emissions, but that's about it. The architecture and block of the engine has changed little.

Been a few years since NV5600 been in a Ram. You are lucky you have no salt. A 15 year old truck is all but junk here unless never winter driven or you want a new cab, box, doors, fenders etc.

I grew up in northeastern Pennsylvania and so I know all about what salt does to vehicles. Only so many years of driving those roads and pretty quick it wouldn't pass inspection because of the frame rusting through.

I realize I was very lucky when I got my Ram...belonged to a neighbor of mine who developed a medical issue and could no longer drive that manual tranny. Desert truck - body and frame are pristine, not a spot of rust anywhere. And as of today, just over 67,000 miles on the odometer.

Not so, in 2019 the 6.7 Cummins went trough a major revision. I think something like 90% is different, including a CGI block.

Now with that said, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

The 80's designed Cummins in my '91 Dodge started life as a 160/400, I turned up the injection pump (free power) to 247/580. Then 30hp injectors, now 263/708. Then rebuilt my 2nd gen turbo and installed it, 50hp injectors and turned up the pump a little more, now about 300/750. I don't have a dyno sheet for the last mod, I do have sheets on all the other power ratings. If the last mod is rated at the crank, I would guess about 320/800 or double the original rating.

333k miles and it is still on the original clutch...it owes me nothing.

You 2 crack me up.....Anytime you 2 want to hook em up and do some pulling, just put your money where your mouths are.... (silence)....
And some “......wolfs“ arent factual, either.
They are really SHEEP that try to compete when they are WAY out of their league.

Millions of actual miles logged driving diesel trucks both small and large. I know what I’m talking about.
Ford gas engines & diesel engines are little stuff. Ford suffered and continues to suffer from building some very unreliable Diesel engines. I know, I suffered with them. After 35 years, they may finally be onto something. The Ford 6.6 & 7.8 “Brazilian” diesels were nothing special. The Powerstroke series from the 6.6, 7.3, 6 and all the way up to the 6.4 were nothing special. The 6L diesel? WOW someone messed up down at Ford/IH on that one. Now they think the 6.7 is the next greatest.....hmmmmm. Still liking the Cummins when it comes to serious work.
Notice IH and Freighliner using Cummins 6.7 or 6.6 Duramax, not Ford in bigger trucks....lol.
Gas? (yawn) Who really cares if you make a living hauling with trucks? Gas isnt found in serious trucks made for heavy use.

Cummins diesels, small and large from the 5.9 to the N-14 are serious diesel engines made to keep America going.

Ecoboost? Yeah, ok. Nice cute little engine for a weekend warrior 1/2 ton. Just bought a Rubicon with a 2L gas turbo. Runs great. Lots of torque. I’m not opposed to gas turbocharged vehicles, just not in heavy work trucks.
