Arly is that a snow packer on the trailer? Are you already preparing the ski trails?

By replacing the battery the Start/Stop now works on both vehicles I own (Ranger and Kia). I can now say that when the Start/Stop function no longer operates, a battery replacement will be in the near future. However no problems starting either vehicle for at least a month after the Start/Stop stops working. It also take a few trips to bring the new battery up to full charge so the S/S stars working again.

Has anyone's Start/Stop function quit working, or am I the first one?

I wasn't aware that start/stop depends on battery condition. I think it hasn't been working recently on my 6 year old (original battery) F-150. I think I will give the battery a booster charge and see if that changes anything. I suppose I'm close to a battery replacement, but it's a really big expensive battery.

On another note, anyone else been reading the reviews of the 2023 Ranger Raptor? 400 hp in a Ranger sounds a little crazy, but a lot of fun.

Wow, I'm really educating myself today. I was checking on battery costs for my F-150. The replacement battery costs between $200 and $250. There is a replacement battery available for about $130 but it says the warranty is void if installed in a vehicle with start/stop capability. I wonder how long it will take for the start/stop feature to save me $100 worth of gas?

Yes I had to get the more expensive battery also. The start/stop saves gas but not money. I disable it every trip unless I forget, but I am reminded at the first stop sign or red light, so I don't save gas or money on the battery, loose loose.

Someone told me that the auto start system in Fords was pressure actuated system in the transmission and not part of the normal battery/starter system. Was that just BS?

It may include the transmission but it absolutely includes the battery system as qualifier for needed conditions met for activation. I can sit at a red-light without moving and the start/stop will start up after a while with the AC on. The transmission had nothing to do with it starting again, I did not move. Add the fact that both vehicles start/stop started working after new battery replacement, I call it BS that it is not part of the battery/starter system.

Of course all our autos need a battery but the start/stop while driving was not done via the starter.

But the conditions for the sequence to commence the Start/Stop function is connected to the charge condition of the battery.
How can the truck start without the starter or battery, I think you were fed some partial info (motor turning off only). I can see the transmission switch only being involved in the stopping/turning off of the motor (with correct battery voltage), the brake pedal is also involved because as soon as I take my foot off the brake the motor starts before the truck moves.

Fords S/S system is really complex. It also won't shut down if the front wheels are turned a certain amount from straight ahead. Something about anticipating a turn.
