180 acres of mixed grass made 455 4x6 round bales

13ish acres made 13 5x4 round bales and about 450 small squares (sold 400 of them out of the wagon, kept 50ish for the goats).

I had 63000 lbs of bermuda/fescu/ some tall grass last year. This years drought in my area netted just 19000 lbs. Six miles north of me some meadows has record production.
Rain this summer is hit and miss.

This is my first year at my new place. Have either 16 or 17 acres costal. With the drought we had here's what I got. 55 4x5 round bales first cutting. I fertilize with 200#/acre after each cutting with 46-0-0. 650 square bales in August that we sold 500 out of the field and then we got the rains for weeks at a time. 175 square bales and 72 4x5 rounds in the last week of September.

If I'm not mistaken my neighbor just got his fourth cutting. Best hay season I can remember.

Finally dry enough here on the Texas gulf coast. I cut one of my 5 acre fields yesterday. The little drum mower I bought from Small Farm Innovations did great. I fluffed it with my 3 point rake a couple hours afterwards. It does a pretty good job. Will fluff again today , rake it tomorrow. I expect to get 25-30 4x4 round bales.

Well, I ended up only getting 18 4x4s off the 5 acre piece. My Kioti Dk45 managed the New Holland 630 with no issues. Now if people will come through that have messaged me saying they will come get it will, I’ll have this piece of field behind me.

What a crazy year. Drought followed by never ending rain. Finally got my first cutting baled today. Not high quality, very stimmy, but my cows will eat it.
