2017 season off to a wet (flood) start

I am in Northern NY state(right on the border);I lost my first planting of corn;replanted June 15 a full month behind "normal". My plantings are just food plots for the wildlife,so not like someone looking to make a living "farming".Everything is growing good right now.

Well it's been a couple of weeks, what's the story? Any green out there?

Hi Guys, we flooded again twice more since my first post. unprecedented in this area

it was biblical rain here until mid july.

however, i do have stuff coming up. Initially the oats came up, and then we flooded again. tips of the oats leaves turned a bit yellow.

however, now I have a field of green, some areas are better than others and I have a mix of oats and hay/grass.

its a bit like a bad haircut out there, there are several bare patches with nothing where i had standing puddles for over a month (still do).

Ill re seed them if it dries out by the fall.

hard to tell whats growing where just now, we havent had much heat and sun so everything is way behind where it should be.

I have another 5 acre field ready to plant yet and another 10 acre field I had plowed last fall and planned to disc & till in spring but it got so wet I couldnt get into it at all, and now I have 10 acres 7' of canary/orchard grass growing in there. it will be a PITA to re cut that and re plow it all.

fun and games

I agree w slender rush. I have it around the edge of my pond. The root ball is tremendously difficult to root out.
