2017 mahindra emax 25 hst s
I just bought a 2017 emax 25 hst s. I've tried searching and searching through here. I dont know what goes where. There's no fluid level showing on the sight glass so it needs fluid. The book says GL-4 80W, but I seen a guy on here using (Traveller universal trans/hydrauic fluid)..Is this right? I found GL-5 80w, will this work? Does this thing have separate hydraulic fluid? Or is it all shared from the transmission fill? Thanks

Hello Tractordood, My book also says GL-4 80W(gear oil) on page 54. On page 55 it says Mahindra Universal Tractor Fluid. I don't know if that is one in the same. I'm sure my dealer is using hydraulic fluid as I had mine changed at the 50 hour oil change. I am taking it in hopefully Monday and I will ask for specifics. I understand if gear oil is changed to hydraulic or vice-versa, the system must be thoroughly drained as they are not compatible.
Everything runs off the same hydraulic pump.
As you read the Operator's Manual, you'll notice some discrepancies and miss-prints!

To address the GL-4 vs. GL5, I know marine use recommends GL-4 as does the old Wheel Horse garden tractors. It's been said GL-4 is compatible with brass bushings etc, so I have been using GL-4 80/90 in my 3 Wheel Horse trannies for years.

Yeah there's some discrepancies in there. I used the trans/hydraulic fluid, we'll see what happens. I did overfill it though, like to the fill spout. Probably drain some off tomorrow
