Price Check 2015 New vs 2016 New - Same Price?

I received quotes for a new 1025R from a few dealers. Basically the dealers are quoting me approximately the same prices for a new 2015 as compared to a new 2016 model. They both would come with the new 6 year JD warranty. Dealer with the 2015 model is the closest and has many on the lot. Dealer with the 2016 model says they are out of '15 models and everything they are selling is a 2016 model year. That dealer is 1.5 hours away but would deliver for free. His price is about $200 more. I've already dickered with the dealers and they are at the final price.

Is there any difference features wise in the 1025R from 2015 to 2016?
Is it worth paying $200 more for a 2016 model year tractor?

Model years don't really matter with tractors. If something changes, the model number changes.

Any hours on the 2015? I'm rather "ano" and don't like test drive hours on a "new" anything that I am buying. If you own it for 3 years and decide to sell, the 2016 may bring in a few extra $$. I would go with the dealer you feel most comfortable with and not worry about the $200 either way.

I don't believe the 2015 would have any hours. Not sure though but they have a few to choose from apparently. Agree the 2016 would maybe be a little better for resale.

s219 has it right, there won't be a difference between the two. Tractors aren't like vehicles and, when it comes to re-sale, it's all about the 'hours'... especially when comparing '15 & '16 assembled rigs. I believe that both would be Tier 4 in NA, so you're not getting away from that.

Now your question needs to be which dealership has the best reputation for Service.

My concern would be how long they sat out on the lots. With all the new safety switches, ultra fine wiring, and plastics that fade, I'd want one that spent very little time sitting out in the weather.

Another great point. When I visited the particular dealership who is closest, with the 2015 model, all their tractors were sitting out on the lot, like a car dealership. I wonder if these 2015 models have been sitting out all winter, which can't be easy on the components.

That is the norm I would say. They all sit out, all year. When I shopped for mine in late 2006, I had to clear snow off them. I had a couple to choose from, but both were starting to rust in areas, had some fading of plastic and rubber parts, etc from sitting out for a year or more. I decided to order new and pay a little more, but mine today looks better than some of those did back then as far as fading and weathering goes.

Just a clarification....there is no such thing as a model year on tractors. They have a model number and a date of manufacture, but that's it. In the vast majority of cases anything other than a very minor change leads to a model designation change. In fact, the paperwork for warranty is based upon the date of sale, not the date of manufacture, so even if it was made in 2015, when you buy it in 2016 the paperwork will reflect the 2016 date and serial number, not the date of manufacture.
