Then why did they go back to leaf springs?

The leaf springs in the Dodge NEED the air suspension to be able to handle the weight that others handle with leaves.

The 4wd had leafs in the rears.

The majority of people that buy these truck are using them for personal vehicles, may haul once in a while. Anyone who does serious hauling go with something like an FL M2, KW T270, Hino, or the like. Light duty trucks are light duty, and grossly over priced, considering you can get what I listed above for the same or less money. I see more of tneses on the highways all the time. Plus, medium duty truck will still be working long after psid for, the light duty will need to be replaced.

Coils and air bags will be fine, and will ride smoother empty.

Why are we comparing 3/4 ton pickups, that come in regular, extended, and crew cabs, to Freightliner and Kenworth trucks? There is no comparison...it's a different league, like you mentioned.

I'm sure air suspension on top of coils rides better, but it is another expense that's not necessary with leaves.

Because, tney do not cost anymore than a new loaded Ram HD, that is why. I know of some people who are buying GL or Hino to haul with because they cost the same, and last longer.

I want yo know what Dodge has done yo imptove braking? Seems they only focus on puling, not stopping.

Airbags wil not cost much more over the long haul. They are used on bigger truck too.

A Corvette doesn't cost more than a Ram HD, let's compare it too! :)

Seriously though, most people that buy 3/4 ton trucks have no use, and could not get by with, one of the other trucks you mention. Can those trucks haul my kids to school and not be a bi^&h to park on the street? Will they fit in a parking garage? Crew cab with heated/cooled leather seats with navigation systems?

Yes, some people buy those other trucks for hauling, but not the majority, because they simply do not fit for most people.

Impressive but tha the has to be the ugliest truck in the front grill area I have ever seen. Its grill is nice but the opening between it and the bumper looks like a mouth and the headlights are just hideous.

Maybe it will look better in person?

Chris

Come on , You know it looks better than a Ford. It sure looks better than my 07 tundra

The colour is ugly! A dark red or maroon with black accents would improve it slightly.

Looks like a coin slot to me. Other than that I like the looks of the new Rams.

Its that slot and squinted headlights. I hated the headlights on my 05 Dmax but this is 10 times worse.

429 lb-ft of torque out of the 6.4 Hemi? Is that a typo? I would think it would be much higher than that. The new gm 6.2 puts out 450 last I heard. Great improvements to the frame and suspension so maybe next year they will budget in house engine improvements.

Did anyone else notice that the payload rating at 2500 lbs vs 3300/3600 GM/Ford?

I agree that it looks better than the Tundra, but it looks like it frowning. Designer must have spent time watching "Doc" on the Cars movie.

That 6.2L from GM is in the half ton. Half tons are rated at a different RPM than 3/4 and 1 tons due to regulations. I know the Ford 6.2L puts out 434 in the F150 and 395 (or something like that) in the F2/350's, even though it's the exact same engine.

If they are the exact same engine are you saying they are not reporting the peak numbers? That wouldn't make sense. Obviously something is different in the tuning because they always report peak values. Maybe the 1/2 ton engines are tuned for premium fuel.
