2012 vs 2013 X300 issue

I took delivery today of the x300 and sold my L111 yesterday. Hopefully, I'll get way past the 4 year warranty with no problems. It really is a nice machine when compared to what I had. Runs quieter, steers a lot easier, fits me better and just feels plain sturdier.
The canopy and mulching kit accessories are a different story as they weren't exactly what I expected. The canopy although built well needs to be tightened up so it doesn’t wiggle around and bang into the seat. I’m going to swap the pins for some nuts and bolts which should address the problem as I don’t intend to be pulling the canopy off any time soon. I'm hoping that the mulching plug which seems too eat up blade area is as efficient as the simple cover I used in the past on my L111. Overall I don’t think I have could have done better for the money I had!

Im a dealer in Indiana. Most people dont realize that JDs fiscal year begins on 11/01. Anything shipped to the dealer after 11/01 is considered a 2013 unit. I really never talk year. As long as its new.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but my 2011 'R that was built on oct 26 2011, ordered by me nov 8 2011, delivered to my dealer in mid Michigan on nov 22 2011, then dropped off in my yard nov 27 2011 is a 2011. I didn't start seeing the "new" S/N 200000 Rs until feb 12. May not apply to lawn equipment...

I have a 42" x304 which should have the same mulch kit. After using the JD mulch blades for a few years, I switched to the gator blades. They seemed to do a much better job, especially on taller weeds and grass. Plus now I don't switch blades when I bag in the fall.

Thanks or the info. I will not be bagging so I'm only concerned with mulching for now. The dealer gave me the original non mulch blades the unti came with plus an additional set of mulch blades. I was just wondering how the kit compared to just covering up the mower deck opening as I had done on my L111
