Looking for a used L45, and this one is somewhat close to me. They are asking $36,500 for it - 2012 Kubota L45 Tractor Loader Backhoe with 699 hours, One owner, 45 HP, Hydrostatic trans, TL1000 loader with 72" HD SSQA bucket, BT1000 backhoe with hydraulic thumb and bucket coupler, includes 3-point hitch, $36500 includes a service by our shop and 90 day warranty
Looks in nice shape, doesnt have the aux hyd 3rd function for the loader, and the shop quoted $1500 to install. Does this price seem reasonable or a little high for the machine?

Don't know how long you have been looking, but a really clean (garage kept) 2013 L45, with 800hours, and hyd. thumb has recently disappeared from CL.
Was listed for $31,000, and in Wareham, Ma.

I talked with the seller, and think he would have accepted $30,000
It may have simply timed out on CL, and still be available(?).
I had the phone number, but can't find it.

I bought ( $32K private party sale) a 250 hour original owner 2006 L48 instead of the L45.
My L48 has 3 rear remotes, aux loader 3rd function, + selector for hyd. loader bucket coupler, QA hoe bucket, 3pt hitch, PTO.
I would suggest that the L45 you are looking at, should probably sell for no more than $32,000, including any sales tax.

I also looked at the JD 110 TLB, but shied away from it, due to a spotty history of cracked transmission cases.
Try to be patient in your search.
I looked for 7 months, and would have looked longer.

I think i seen that for sale but also cannot find it again. I think the $36,500 is a little high priced.

For me, finding a reasonable value of any used machine depends almost entirely on the condition. At 700 hrs in 7 years it could go either way & $36,500 might be high or low. Certainly one stored in a garage with little sun damage, no rust, and not much tire wear - i.e. used for light work & washed often - could be worth every bit of that or more. Likewise, I've see one in and out of the rental yard in a nearby town that has everything working, but I wouldn't pay over 20K for. In fact, I wouldn't be tempted to buy that rental one at all.

If this is a dealer-owned machine, can you speak to the previous owner of the L45? How about the service records on that machine? That's always an interesting question to ask any dealer.
Policy might be different in different parts of the country. Here in the rural US, the established local dealers don't advertise giving out records like that, but it's pretty much expected of them. Same thing if you trade in a used machine. Showing maintenance records seems to still be standard policy at the local JD dealer as well as at the automotive dealerships we use. If asked, they will even provide a list of all the work done on any of their machines (by serial number) from day one as long as it was either warranty work or done at that dealer.

It's interesting that you say this L45 has a hydraulic bucket coupler but doesn't have the 3rd function for the loader. How is the bucket coupler powered? And why would anyone bother to power the bucket coupler? Kubota's quick coupler for the BH bucket is very easy to work by hand.

Yes, I'd go $1500 to put the 3rd function on the FEL. Especially if they are using the Kubota parts kit. Parts alone are probably more than half that price even to them. But I wouldn't be too eager to pay. because that OEM 3rd function is just the right amount of money to make a nice negotiating piece......especially if the L45 is dealer owned. Also, another different size BHbucket for the BT1000 BH is also a nice negotiating piece - it needn't be new. So is a grapple...

I have been looking , I have looked at and had a JD110TLB and sold a few years ago when purchasing my house . Now looking again. I liked my 110, and had no issues with it and know of a couple guys here that use them everyday with no issues . I found a 08 with 700 hours that is like new for $27,500, with aux hydraulics in front and rear but no thumb . Been pondering that machine as well.

Does the L45 have the M59's inching control so that the tractor can be moved from the backhoe position? I see it has the same HST+ as the M59 and that's great. I use that inching control constantly when backhoeing.... or any kind of tricky BH positioning.

I like the JD110 - but apparently JD didn't. Kubota's a huge competitor of JD, and yet JD gave up on a complete model line. Kubota didn't even have to compete to make medium size TLBs into a success.
Yanmar did the same with their excellent TLB of the same size as the L45 or JD110. Of course JD and Yanmar are joined at the hip and maybe that explains why.

One A big difference between the Kubota TLBs and the JD110 has to do with how easy it is to go from standard operating position to the BH operating position. I much prefer Kubota's way there.
Another thing is Kubota's favor is the the oversize frame that Kubota has on all their TLBs. Makes the machine very rigid. I still think that the JD110 has the edge in style. It looks tougher maybe than it is.

That's pretty funny, a friend of mine bought that machine for $30000.00. No three point hitch or quick coupler on the hoe. It is a nice machine. It has a little more than 800 hours on itut looks well cared for... good luck in your search, be patient and don't rush into anything....

I think it’s a little high. Can you spin the seat in the L45? The M59 does but it’s tight. Some/most of the compact TLBs have flip seats and they’re not nearly as fast as a spin seat.

I was wondering that myself. The seat in the M59 spins, and if the parking brake lever wasn't in the way there would be plenty of room to spin both seat, body, legs and feet. As is, spinning the seat is simple but does require some fancy foot gymnastics. After a while you get used to it. It would have been simpler to put the parking brake lever on the the other side of the seat.....
