New Holland Boomer 30
Just bought my first tractor. Seemed like every time I turned around I needed help out here on our property. We selected a Boomer 30 (28hp) from our local NH dealer. Any thoughts out there on this new purchase or advice as to what to look for?

Congratulations and enjoy. Don't get too carried away while you learn the capabilities, these are powerful machines that can hurt you easily. But they sure do make life easier. :)

Congratulations on your purchase. I'm sure you are going to enjoy it.

Just follow the maintenance schedule in your manual and if you treat it well, it will treat you well.

Now, you just need to figure out what implements to purchase so you can have more fun.

Everyone's input is appreciated.

I do have a few "green- horn" questions. I have been told that adding two remotes to the rear is a must. Checked with Dealer and installed are $785. My first question is: does this make good since and will It gain me the ability to operate a hydraulic top link and hydraulic side links for box blade use? (are 2 side links required or just one on a box blade? I would also like to run a small quick attach grapple on the FEL and will I need additional remotes on the FEL?

I'm not sure about a must on the rear remotes, if you don't mind getting off and adjusting the BB everytime you change direction. Someday I'll have some but for now I have to suffer. :(

If you had rear remotes, there is no reason a pair couldn't be plumbed forward with flex lines for grapple operation.

your other option versus running new hydraulic lines all the way to the FEL off of your rear remotes (if you had them) is to install a diverter valve. maintain full functionality of your loader and be able to run a grapple with the flip of a switch....

I don't know how you feel about it by remote kit only cost me around $350. That was in 2004 but the dealer install was another $250. And that included seperate lever for the remotes. It's a pretty simple install at least it was for mine. It should come with instructions. I recommend you do get remotes you'll find a reason down the road I'm sure;).

I ran hard line from back to front remotes for my grapple. The back end of my hard line has a two foot hose that just plugs in to rear remotes use the grapple. I just unplug for other impl Works great.
