Fan belt squeals loudly intermittently. The fan belt has never been replaced. Will someone please describe how I am to check if the fan belt needs to be replaced and how to replace it if necessary.

I have attached belt checking and tension instructions for a model almost the same as yours.
The recommended maintenance is to check every 100 hours.
If after you tension it correctly, it still squeals, you need a new belt. However, when the belt is off, check that the pulley's it drives turn freely. The engine crankshaft pulley wont turn as it drives the others.
The deflection specs for belts are commonly at 10 or 22 lbs of force. "Moderate thumb pressure" isn't very accurate though it's what many people go by. You can buy actual belt tension gauges.
