I am thinking about converting a 16 ton gas engine powered log splitter to a 3 pth mount powered by rear scv. My question: Is there enough of a hydraulic flow rate on the stock 2010 4720 cab unit to run it reasonably fast?

I use one with my 4310. It's not super fast but it's fast enough to keep one man busy. I can't remember exactly but I think mine is 8gpm and the 4720 is around 12? Need to look this up to confirm it. My father has the 4720 and I always wanted to hook it up to see, we are 2 hours apart and just haven't done it.

I'd say go for it

What's the GPM at the remotes? Our 1635 is just under 12, works great.

Go for it!!

I run a TSC 20 ton on my 4120 that I converted over. It's not as fast as the dual stage pump under low pressure, but it's faster than the pump at high pressure. It's definitely fast enough!

Oh, and mine runs from the power beyond which disables the 3 pt, but I found if I plug the power beyond hose into my rear remote I can still lift my 3 pt by actuating the remote at the same time without having to disconnect the splitter. Sometimes it is nice to lower it down for the big chunks and then raise it for the lighter stuff.
