Hello

I just bought my first gator, a gas 2009 XUV. I have noticed that the brakes are very weak. I tried to stop half way up a hill today and the brakes won't hold I had to use the parking brake. Are they known for poor brakes or do I have a problem.

If it's brand new take it out and make several hard stops. The brake pads may need to be burnished before they will hold good.

On mine, it took a couple of months use before the brakes really got their bite.
Do a few heavy stops from speed to accelerate this.
It now brakes perfectly, nothing to worry about if you have a firm pedal.
If pedal is soft or going to the floor while braking,
you DO have a problem.

Thanks for the info. It only has 2 Hrs on it. I will do some stops with it to help burn them in.

I agree about the brakes needing time to improve. I might have even posted on this site about my concern last year when we got our 08 XUV 850D. It took a while and was a gradual improvement, but they seem fine now.
They apparently take a while to bed in.
In the mean time, just be careful!
