2009 LT1050 PTO Issue

I've searched all around trying to find an answer to this but have come up empty handed so far. I'm hoping someone here will be able to offer some insight.

We recently had the transmission drive belt break, and had to remove the PTO in order to install the new belt. I was able to get the PTO off without issue using the service manual. Reinstalling however has been a bit bigger an issue, I've been able to get everything back in place but I'm having difficulty getting things properly tightened down. The first time I used the impact I removed the PTO bolt with to tighten it back into place, it ran for about 30 minutes before the bolt loosened and fell out. After tracking down the exact torque spec and grabbing a torque wrench and attempting to tighten it the bolt and part of the PTO simply spins.

I've seen others saying on similar models when they went to tighten the PTO the fan on the top of the motor would spin, and needed to keep it from moving to get the PTO bolt tightened down. However on mine it does not. I haven't found any other info and the service manual doesn't provide any further help. Hopefully someone here will have some insight. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to TBN. So, are you saying that the flywheel fan is not turning when you go to tighten the bolt? That would be bad if it at if at least it didn't want to turn-IE Bolt stripping. If your threads are worn, best get a new bolt, lock washer- possibly longer bolt if you can. I have a tool that holds the bottom of a double D clutch bottom, or you lock the flywheel ring gear. Some will feed rope in one cylinder to stop the piston, but I don't on an OHV.
