Yesterday I was looking at A L3240 rental tractor with 200 hours. It comes with full Kubota factory warranty and can be financed with 0% for 5 years. They are asking $17,500. 1 is that a good price for that tractor and two what about buying a used rental tractor?

The L3240 Kubota is a sweet tractor, but I would have reservations about buying a rental, private owner with 200 hours no question.Price seems fair if FEL is included.

With full warranty, I assume it is sold from a dealer. If the dealer rented it out a few times, full warranty and that few of hours, I would not be concerned. Take a look at it. If it is in very good to excellent condition, I would not have any problems buying it. I look at it this way, it has a few hours and therefore, you should be getting a good deal on the unit. 300 hours is nothing in the life of the tractor. I actually prefer these kind of deals because you should be able to drive a good price. Have them change the oil, filter, HST fluid ect before you buy it, unless it had been very recently changed.

Tractor is from a Dealer. It's only been rented out 8 or 10 times and is only 6 months old.

Had a L3240 and they are a great tractor. If it were me considering this deal I would contact Barlows and get a delivered (equiped the same) price for a new one and also ask if they have a used one and their price. I'd tell the dealer there what I was doing and ask them for their best delivered price. Then decide if the difference in price, if there is any, is worth the 200 hours of rental use which in my opinion could be equal to 300 to 400 hours of use by an owner. Just my opinion.

200 hours and full warranty? I'd make sure the price is properly discounted from new and if so, buy it. The dealer probably serviced it along the way. If it was owned by a rental yard, I'd not be so enthusiastic.

any way you can find out what what the rental use was? I bought a rental with roughly same hours and have not had any issues. It had a few normal use scratches, no dents. It was maintained by the dealer at proper intervals and was used only to drag mower. Dealer added the front end loader new so there was no front end loader use at all. Now I suppose there may be some issues with abuse of the PTO, but it works fine now and I rarely use the PTO.

I guess rental yards are of suspicion because the care is in question as the abuse. if it's from a dealer you still don't know what or who rented the equipment or whatit was used for. I always buy new. I buy my trucks new as with my cars. I like knowing what I'm getting and the warranty if something goes wrong. Not saying good deals on used aren't our there saying buyer be wary and you usually get what you pay for..Good luck in your endeavours...
