My Tractor has had problems starting over the past year. I have a new fuel filter and have removed the air from the lines several times and have replaced the glow plugs. As soon as I replaced the glow plugs it started immediately and ran great. on the second day , when I tried to start it, it took about a minute to start. On the third day it would not start and still won't start. I get a lot of white smoke which I interpret as incomplete burning of the fuel which in turn I think the glow plugs are not getting hot enough. So now I think that the solenoid may be bad or perhaps there is a short or bad connection some place. I'm confused but I am sure somebody else has had this problem. Please advise

Do all the simple stuff first like clean and brighten all the connections and if plugged connections, clean them as well and coat all the connections after cleaning with di-electric grease to keep them working correctly with no corrosion resistance and make sure your starting battery is up to snuff by load testing it with a carbon pile load tester or take it to a local auto parts store and have them test it. It's most times free.

A voltage tester is very inexpensive especially at harbor freight or Walmart..
I would check TO SEE if you’re getting power TO the glow plugs..
Do u own a battery charger.?
U can take the gp’s out and test them with your battery charger.. + on top & - on the body.. count to 10 1000 and they should be cherry red.. a new gp will probably hit that mark in 8 1000..

A lot of white smoke is not a good thing. It can indicate moisture in the cylinders. This can be a head gasket or a cracked block but depending on the tractor you could also have moisture entering the exhaust. Some used to exhaust up instead of down. A little white smoke can simply be moisture condensation on the cold metal. Black smoke usually indicates incomplete combustion or a too rich mixture.
Thanks for that reply. The head gasket issue is what I am worried about but the tractor ran so well when it did start that I doubted that the engine itself was bad. Perhaps it's just getting worse. In the beginning the tractor would lose power which would indicate air in the system which I have bled repeatedly. I have put small clamps on some of the gas lines that I could get to.

I have a 7305 but I assume they are similar. My glow plug timer went bad "on" and cooked all of my glow plugs. Check yours and make sure you didn't already burn your new ones up.

I suspect this is my problem because my previous glow plugs which I put in last spring burnt out but I thought they were just bad imported parts. I also hope I didn’t burn out my new ones as they cost $71 for the new ones. Is this an easy fix? As I live a couple of hours away and towing charges eat me up. Thanks for your help

I think the timer looks like a relay and you would just unplug it and put the new one in.
