Tractor
John Deere 5425
battery good
ground to frame is tight
fuseable link off battery good
power to back of fuse box good
power in fuse box with no blown fuses
No power to terminal 86 behind dash that has start/neutral/PTO relay
replaced starter solenoid? behind dash at suggestion of dealer-no change
I can crank engine if I jump across leads on starter solenoid I replaced behind dash (I could turn it over with older one also)

Ignition switch:
performed switch continuity test per manual and checked resistance for shorts- all good
power to battery lead across ground on back of switch when in the OFF position
when I take switch to run I lose voltage across back of switch but I get it when I move negative to frame but no dash lights or cranking

Dealer says there is a short in wiring causing voltage to go away when I switch to run
I am an hour from dealer so would like to trace and fix here if possible

Any suggestions? First tractor and had for 2 years/100 hours
First issue with tractor and first post!

:welcome: to TBN

Sorry, but best I can suggest is get the service tech manual for your 5425 as it has the wiring diagrams.
Don't understand a short that doesn't blow a fuse.. makes me suspicious of fuse checks.

I have ordered the diagnostic manual!

I agree on the fuses and I have changed the Switch fuse and the ELX fuse with 20/10 fuses with same result.

on power to dash ? Do you have a hourmeter going on and of (sort of flashing) ?
Is all the fuses in ?
One should not be in ?
I think that is the 4th fron the left.
