Im going t look at an 04 ford psd. The pictures look great and I have done business with the dealer before. The price was reduced to 6500. Any advise on what to look for. Or if I should stay away from it would be appreciated. Its the 4 door extended cab loaded and was 1 owner.

Don't buy it unless you can get an extended wrranty. There are lots of places to get information on how to cure the problems these motors have but it's not cheap.

The 03 and early 04 PS Ford's were trouble prone. The later 04's were much better then made better yet in 05 throughout the 6.0 production run.

That's a lot of miles. I don't care if it's diesel or horse drawn it's too many miles for me.

The positive is the price. Guess it's a gamble. Good luck.

The local diesel repair shop to me, quoted me approximately $10,000 to cure all the ills of the 6.0. The truck price is real low, so factor another 10K for the repairs up front and that's about what a 2001 7.3 with half that many miles goes for around here.

A new motor.The 2004 diesel 6.0 powerstroke had a lot of issues.

Most of the 6.0 around here [oilfields] went anywhere from 200k to 300k before crapping out. It would be a gamble I would not take. CJ

I would not get a 6.0l diesel. Way too many issues.

My 01 was $9k, 1 owner, with 117k mi. I also don't have to pull the cab to work on it. Downside is it's a little slower and won't win in a pull off.

236 .. i'd have to think any of the usual 6.0 issues would have already shown.. now you are just looking at straight miles.

still 6500$ is low$

drive it.

Me personally. a 2003 7.3 with that many miles I'd buy before a 6.0.. however..

If I find a good 2003 350 7.3 I would replace my 6.0 with it i think...

If you can afford a 6.4 power stroke (2008-2010 I believe) that is one bad mamma jamma! Do a dpf delete and a nice tune and those things are reliable powerhouses and get good fuel economy. My friend has a 450 flat bed with 192,000 on it and that truck is stone reliable.
