2004 John Deere Gator HPX release latch for dump bed is stuck

There must be a trick to this. I just acquired this vehicle with low hours. I have been dumping dirt and clay out of the dump bed (manual), maybe 300 pounds at a time, keeping the weight toward the rear to get some leverage. Last trip out I perhaps had too much weight toward the back so that the latch wouldn't release. I then pulled the load out by hand until all the dirt was off the back portion. The dirt in the front made it hard to lift, but I managed. I let the bed drop back into place and now the bed won't release at all. Anyone else have this issue? If so, what to do? Thanks in advance.

Spray latch parts with PB Blaster, Kroil, Liquid Wrench or another penetrant. Tap latch lightly with a mallet. Let penetrant soak overnight. Tap latch with a mallet again. Should unlock.

Lubricate latch with a spray lubricant. Wax lube does not hold dust. Lithium grease fine for this application. Penetrant is NOT lubricant.
