2003 Chevy Z71 transfer case

What is this part called that is leaking on the transfer case ? It's the black round plastic part.

My first guess would be the actuator for engaging 4WD. First thing to do is determine if it is ATF fluid or engine oil.

I just had a new tranny installed and saw the leak. Took it back to the dealer and they fixed it at no cost. :thumbsup:

The part is called a motor/encoder assembly and yes it's for engaging the 4 wheel drive.
