Bought my CK20 in April 2006 (new). This April just turned 200 hours. Every year I have changed the oil/filter and fuel filter myself and keep the air filter clean. Dealer did 50 hour service back in 2006.

Since it has been 5 years and it was at 200 hours, I thought, let's have the dealer do the service. OMG!!!

Periodic Service --- $170
Hazardous Waster Removal -- $16
Rags and Solvent (?) -- $8
Grease -- $8
Engine Oil (3 quarts) -- $11.97
Oil Filter -- $12.50
Fuel Filter -- $8.50
Air Filters -- $55.05 (not a typo!)
Hydraulic Filter -- $29.95
UTF Hydro oil -- $23.94

grand total -- $358.91 !!!!

The service tech did come to me, there was with a "coupon" for free travel to and from your house.

I thought BMW dealer service was bad, but the Kioti has nothing on BMW!!!

Is this too much or is this normal? I thought, at most, $200 . . . .

I watched everything done, which I can do. The 400 hours service is DEFINITELY being done by yours truly.

Thanks!

Did the 50 and 200 hour service myself. Cost per hour is very expensive, that's for sure. Have almost 300 hours and will be 3 years this June on my CK35 HST. Will give it a good going over and change the anti freeze at that time. Shop rate for the closest tractor (not Kioti) shop is $82.00 per hour.
Having owned a business it cost a lot to run every month, what with rent, supplies and wages so $82.00 per hour up our way is not out of line, just I can't afford to pay that unless it was for work I couldn't do myself. :)

I realize overhead to run a business is costly, but to have a successful business I think it helps to have as many customers as possible.

With outrageous service costs like mine, no one in their right mind is going to have the dealer service their tractor. If the cost of service was reasonable, owners would probably have more service done by the dealer.

On the bright side, the cost of shock therapy is expensive, instead all you have to do is have your tractor serviced by the dealer!

Rags and solvent: $8.00
I think this is a new fee charged by most mechanics. Recently had my Honda in the shop and was billed $14.00 for"shop supplies". I questioned the charge, told it was for things like grease, rags etc. Small item but Id rather see the hourly rate increase a bit as opposed to being hit for rags and grease! Actually kind of insulting.

RE: service. I do my own from 50hour andup. Never had a problem. Good learning experience. Besides labor I just could not see paying about $800 for transport of tractor to and from shop.

Transport is the big issue, I have always thought that a traveling mechanic would be a good business for someone- kinda like the farrier or Vet who comes to fix up your horse. Not many "shade tree mechanics" here in the CT.

As soon as the hooligan starts charging seperately for rags and solvent or 8$ for grease then you know he is going to go out of business. He is nickel and diming you. Inventing ways to charge more. Those overhead items should have been part of the hourly shop rate. Just like heat in the shop. That'll be next, shop heat, toilet paper for mechanic, phone bill, illumination charge, etc.

Do shops actually pay to dump oil? I know shops around here will pay you to drop off your oil with them so that they can burn it in their heaters.

actually i think thats kind of cheap. I just had the vet come out and float teeth on 5 horses and one shot each....$750.00.

I have a DK45SE HST and im getting ready to do the 50 hr stuff. im doing it myself, but its still $$$$. hyd filter is like $80.00, hyd oil about $200 or so, plus other oil and filter. I dont mind doing the work, but it is spendy.

I also just bought 30 gal of ISO22 hyd oil for my new snowblower power pack...WOW. $450.00.....for oil. who knew.

tHAY..this is my 900'th post
