I need to be thinking about replacing a badly cracked and leaking front tire on my B7100. The one on there is 18x8.50-8 and 2-ply turf. It has lasted long enough to be completely dry rotted and worn out, obviously put on a number of years before I got the tractor two simmers ago. So, that experience at least suggests 2-ply is sufficient (and obviously cheaper) but I'd like to get more input.

Sorry if this has been covered, I searched but didn't find much on just the ply question (lots of discussion of turf vs ag vs R4).

I don't have a loader. I do use a front carrier on a Reese hitch I mounted up front, the carrier is rated at 500 pounds but I doubt I ever get that much wood in it, and it is balanced by a carryall on the back which unloads the front tires some. The tractor is 2-wheel drive.

By the way, I put slime in the tire but it's still leaking, and pretty fast (goes down in a couple days or less). I suppose I could try a tube.

Your thoughts?

I replaced my 2-ply with a 2-ply, but I had them tube the tire. It had always been a real slow leaker that I couldn't find, the tube cured that. Not sure what brand you have, but there was a thread about lots of people (including me) unhappy with Carlisle tires. So you might get a different brand.
