My 2 most used tools in my shop - odd combo

Hobart Ironman 230 - Good Machine for Homeowner
Craftsman 3/4 drive socket set - Can't kill it.

I've got a 3/4 set just like that. Seldom use it unless I'm doing something on a tractor. I probably use my tape measure more than anything else.

Setting aside wrenches of all sorts, my shop vise and 4.5" grinder is my most used tools. I really couldn't get by without a vise to hold things while I bend, sharpen or repair all kinds of stuff.

I agree - shop vises are a must.

Sometimes I use my hydraulic press as a vise. :thumbsup:


Use the vintage drill press a lot.

I used my vise as a press. Now I've got to weld the jaw back on, a-g-a-i-n.

I plan to use the Hobart Ironman 230 and my vise to build me a new heavy duty shop press like the one in the photo above. I bought a shop press at a parking lot tool sale - called speedway back in 2007 and it has been nothing but a cheap product that bends when you put pressure on it.
