Jim, your right about squirrels and coons, I use a metal spin plate and made my own guard out of some wire I had laying around. Has worked great for the last 3 years.

That timer you ordered is made/marketed by the same company as the one I mentioned, much better than any Moultrie product IMO, well most anything to me is better than Moultrie:laughing:

Did you also get it with the varmit module?? I had a friend with that model and it worked good for squirrels, some for coons, I guess the "shock" is felt more by the small guy's

Dennis, I started to get the shock module, but after reading reviews on it, I decided to hold off. We'll see how the slinger works with the wire around it first. If it needs additional protection, I may buy the shocker module.

Here's a photo my wife sent me yesterday. I thought this was pretty funny.

Now that was funny:laughing::thumbsup:Almost true too:D

May just want to build a cage like I did? if needed. You know how destructive coons can be, but then again your set up may make it hard for them to get to the timer anyway, that's a good thing about that timer.

Jinman,

That elk sure looks healthy, wonder what's in the popcorn. Hope the drought ends soon.

Dennis, I just downloaded my game cam photos this morning for the last three days. In various photos I've got two does, one fawn, two bucks, three raccoons, and one kitty. I have the same two bucks showing up nightly and now the does seem to be increasing. This was the first time we've seen the one with the fawn this year. Your bucks sure seem to be mature. How far is your feeder from your house? Mine is only 150' from my house and exposed along the edge of the woods, so older bucks rarely show up.

Jim, my feeder is less than maybe 200 yards, haven't put my laser range finder to it because I have to many trees in the creek bottom blocking the view. I do put corn out right behind the house (45 yards) and see deer almost every day.

Like you though, so far the bigger bucks haven't came out in daylight in the back yard but do at night. Most of them have to travel from my neighbors in the NW, or the one on the SW.

I have been religiously feeding them for about 6 years here and also usually get oats in by mid September, so they may be somewhat used to it by now..

Doe's will bed on the creek edge behind the house in winter, I guess it's the best place to be out of the North winds, sure fun to baby sit them:laughing:

Hello western, those deere are alot of fun.

Mguitas, they sure are, I hunt, but almost have more fun working on my property with the deer in mind. Any improvement I can do to make them hang around is fun for me.

Oh, welcome to TBN.
