1st Tractor

I put down a deposit yesterday on a Ford 1720 4wd with a brand new Bush Hog SQ160 rotary cutter.I am going to pick it up on Thursday and heading to my lease to do some turkey hunting and try out my new tractor.This tractor is in excellent condition and has the 12 speed shuttle shift.It has 1354 hours on it and is a 1988 model.The guy wasn't sure about the hp but said he thinks it is 28.Is there any way I can tell from the serial number or something?Also it has turf tires and I would like to change to R1's later.Will the R1's fit on the same wheels or will I have to replace them too?It does not have a loader but I might want to add one later .Does anyone have any recommendations for a particular brand or does New Holland still make one to fit it?Cost?When I was checking the specs on the SQ160 I noticed that Bush Hog makes a loader that I think will fit it.

I just bought a 1720 and am learning about it. I asked the questions about FEL fitment in the below thread. So far I like the tractor.

He wanted $5950.00 for the tractor and $1450.00 for the Bush Hog.I know I could have gotten a cheaper bush hog but this one seems to be very heavy duty with a 65 HP gearbox it also has chains front and rear.I think for the condition it's in that the price for the tractor was very good.

I will post pics when I get back from my lease Sunday or Monday.Thanks for the link. That is good info.Do you have R1 tires on your tractor?After looking at some pics it looks like I will need different wheels for the R1's.$$$$$

According to the literature I have the 1720 has 26 engine hp and 23.5 pto hp.

You will need new rims to go with r1's. Try and find them used and clean them up. They are pricey brand new.
