Hello All,

Well this tractor is up for sale and what I'm confussed about is that it has 260 hrs on meter and the floor board shows bare metal from, of course, use. Does this happen to the tractors with "260 hrs" on them or do you think it has more hrs than the meter is showing. Please let me know because I am trying to buy this or a tractor similar for someone. Thanks

Darin

It does'nt look like excessive use to me. Was it stored outside? Also, some tractor operations require the operator to get off the machine more often than others. This will cause more operator station wear. It looks pretty good for a 14 yr old machine.

Holy I hope that was a spelling error on your part--"It looks pretty good for a 14 yr old machine." or I'm in trouble with this one. ha,ha. Thanks and still would like to hear from as many people as possible so chime in all. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I am not actually quite sure on the storage area but will ask soon. Thanks for that heads-up.

I have nothing to do at work today and it's a lucky thing based on my performance thus far. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

You made me go out an look at my JD 790, bought it in November 2001, it has 56 hours. The paint's on floor & pedals is all there but does show some signs of scuffing. In another two hundred hours it's possible I'll have some bare spots...

It could also depend on the operator an what he wears for shoes an how much grit is allowed
to remain on the deck.

The number of hours vs years seem low but previous owner could have other equipment or
small lot or hundred other reasons. I figure on putting on about a 100 hrs a year on the 790
but I do have a couple older tractors I use...

I'd look at the rest of the tractor, does it look like a low use tractor like the meter indicates or does it match the floor, then make your decision based on that..

I really like the direct injection diesel engines used by Deere, they start like a gas engine
down to the mid-30's. Actually started it once in the 20's but engine ran rough, shut it down
an gave it 20 second on the air manifold heater, ran smooth as silk...

My 1991 670 (same tractor, different engine) has about 650 hours with a bit more bare metal then shown in the picture.

My guess is the hours are right.

I'd like to have the 770 myself..nice machine. What's the dollars the seller is loking for?

The guy says he wants $14,500 firm and that comes with a #7 backhoe, 70A loader w/ extra loader bucket, sod roller, & a quick attach onloader bucket forks. What do you people think about this price because I already have the bank check in the guys name so hopefully it's o.k.

It's normal. Don't worry about it. A can of Rustoleum primer and a can of JD green will fix that right quick.
