I have a friend with a 98 4200 and he needs to know the lug pattern for the rear wheels. He is looking at getting another set of tires and wheels but is not sure as to the lug pattern. Anyone know?

He can remove two bolts diametrically opposed for the bolt circle diameter, then count the number of bolts (should be 6). May as well measure the bolt hole diameter while he's at it.
That will give him all the information he needs...

Thanks, I will tell him. Actually he will probably read it himself. He had never heard of this forum before today.

If he wants a pattern, hold a paper plate over the lugs and tap each lug with a rubber mallet.

Yeah...but then he'd have to remove all the bolts.

why can't you just run a tape measure from one bolt head to the one across from it. You will get darn close, close enough to figure out the pattern. I always just eyeball center to center, and you have a pretty good idea what you have then.

I would have to guess its a 6 on 6" bolt pattern, there aren't that many choices of six lug patterns.
