I replaced my weak transmission, 1320 hours, with one that had 742 hours. The newer trans feels solid now but the steering cylinder that was barely leaking before, is a steady drip now. Has anybody had luck repairing one or is replacement the way to go? New $284 vs used $120? Opinions? Thanks, Cliff

Replace it and be done with it --------------------

I have rebuilt my steering cylinder for $26. Not difficult and will last as long as the original seals did.

Great Dave, thanks. Did you get your parts from JD or a local source?

Bruce, I understand the sentiment. But I enjoy tinkering on things when I can. I will probably try the repair first and see how that goes. Cliff

Try a local packing company, save a bunch of money. Not sure jd even has a listing for cylinder repair parts....
