1994 J.D. LX 188

Does anyone have any thoughts on the lx 188 mower from John Deere? The seller is asking $2500.

Hillman, I have an LX 188 and love it. As you know it is water cooled - much quieter than an air cooled unit. It is also hydro - uses regular motor oil for the hydro instead of hydraulic oil. I think I paid around $4000 new but that included a grass catcher that mounts on the rear.

Thanks rlk for your in-put. Is there anything in particular to look for as far as wear or trouble area on this particular lawn mower? It was built in 1994.
