1990 MF 1035 4x4 problem,HELP

Hey folks, i have a problem getting 4 wheel drive engaged when i shove the lever down ut just does not engage the front end,anyone ever have this happen? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated, Thank you Ray.

Just maybe there is a mechanical problem with either the driveshaft, or inside the front differential housing where the ring and pinion is??? Could also be a problem with the linkage on the 4x4 shift lever?

If you are certain you are engaging the shift lever to 4x4 mode, then something has to be wrong within the front differential, driveshaft, or maybe inside the transmission.

Check the driveshaft on the bottom of the tractor. You will have to pull the shield off to look at it. As I recall, there is a splined coupling on the front and the rear held in place by spring c-clips. You probably had a c-clip failure and that allowed the coupling to slide on the shaft enough to disconnect.
