I have a 1988 MF 240 and wanted to know if anyone has heard of others having issues with the fuel lift pump getting leaks. I have owned my MF 240 for 4 years and have replaced the fuel lift pump 5 times due to leaks. I asked the local MF dealer about the issue and he said it was because today's diesel fuel breaks down the diaphragms. I recently replaced it the first of May and have used the tractor for mowing about 2 hours per week since then and just last week I notice the fuel lift pump leaking again. Could it be something else that I am NOT aware of that may be causing the breakdown of the pump? The pump that become faulty in May allowed diesel to get into the engine oil, so I had to chain the engine oil along with the fuel lift pump. Does anyone have any suggestions to what may be causing the unit to break down? Thanks for any help in this matter.
